Compare the Ford F-150 to the Competition

When it comes to shopping around for a new, half-ton pickup truck, the team at Mitchell Selig Ford knows you have options to weigh and multiple models to consider. But we also know that our perennially popular Ford F-150 pickup comes out ahead of those similar models when you compare them side by side. Curious to learn more? Consider the various ways in which our truck comes out ahead when compared next to the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and Ram 1500.

Ford F-150 vs. Chevy Silverado 1500

Like the Ford F-150, the Chevy Silverado 1500 is a highly customizable, full-sized, half-ton truck that's available in multiple trim levels and three different cab styles. But while they have these surface traits in common, the F-150 comes out ahead in other key areas, such as:

  • Towing and utility. When your biggest jobs call for maximum towing ability, the Ford F-150 is ready to answer the call. Depending on which model you choose and the powertrain you prefer for the F-150, this truck has a towing capacity range of around 5,000 pounds to 12,300 pounds. Comparatively, the Chevy Silverado 1500 truck's maximum towing capacity falls below 10,000 pounds.
  • Hybrid powertrain. Drivers who love the style and power of a pickup truck, but who crave the efficiency and smooth ride of a hybrid engine, will prefer the Ford F-150 to the Chevy Silverado 1500. Where our F-150 has an optional, turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 gas/electric hybrid engine as an option, the Silverado 1500 doesn't have a hybrid in its lineup.
  • Standard safety features. While every trim in the F-150 lineup comes with forward collision mitigation, automatic high beams, and lane departure warning as standard safety equipment, these same advanced safety features are not standard for the Silverado 1500. In fact, you'll have to request them special as part of an add-on package to get them with the Chevy.

Ford F-150 vs. Ram 1500

Another popular pickup option for drivers in the greater Windsor area, the Ram 1500 is also a half-ton truck that's suitable for work or play. When drivers in Connecticut are looking for a versatile truck that can perform multiple tasks and tow heavy objects, they consider both of these impressive models. But when they want a truck that goes above and beyond and offers a little bit more, they find themselves at the Ford F-150.

  • Cab styles. With the Ford F-150, drivers get a range of choices available to them to personalize their truck and make it work for their needs. These options include three cab styles - a two-door regular cab, four-door double cab, or four-door crew cab. But the Ram 1500 doesn't have as many options to choose from and there is no two-door regular cab model for drivers who don't want or need a backseat.
  • Passenger comfort and interior. Regardless of which of the above cab styles you choose in either truck, the Ford F-150 offers a more spacious cab and more room to stretch out in as well. This is especially true for the front seat of all models, where the F-150 has three extra inches of legroom for you and your passenger.
  • Features. From safety to convenience to comfort, the Ford F-150 also has more standard amenities than the Ram 1500. Drivers can get exactly what they want right at the base model with the F-150, which comes standard with smartphone integration, forward collision mitigation, an 8-inch touchscreen interface, and more. None of these are standard for the Ram 1500.
